PMTU, Charlestown Nevis: (January 26, 2010) - The Project Management and Training Unit (PMTU), Ministry of Social Development, in a joint intellectual effort with the Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematograficos – ICAIC Muestra Itinerante de Cine del Caribe, for the second time, presents the 3rd Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase throughout Nevis.

Originally earmarked as “the most important regional action for the promotion of a wider visibility of the cinema produced by authors across the Caribbean disapora,” the film showcase will officially be opened by the Honourable Hensley Daniel, Minister of Social Development & Culture, on Monday, February 1st 2011 at 10 am during a brief ceremony.

The Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase, in its 3rd edition, has 42 films to be showcased during a week-long exhibition from 2 - 8 February, 2011.  These films provide a platform for Caribbean authors to present the reality of life of a Caribbean Diaspora.  This catalogue features middle length, short fiction, documentary and animated films, with sections devoted for children and adolescence.

The showcase is held bi-annually with the main objectives to promote audiovisual works that in their aesthetic values, express the Caribbean cultural identity and to bring spectators in each country closer to the knowledge and acknowledgement of their own reality, history and culture through cinema; and dedicated to bringing national films and audiovisual productions to the attention of institutions, governments and the private sectors.

It is anticipated that the Primary and Secondary Schools on the island will participate in the screening during the week of activities.
